Who are we? The Epsom Day Surgery Unit has been based within the Old Cottage Hospital since May 1994. We offer a wide range of consultant clinics and surgical procedures. We aim to provide a seamless service between General Practice and specialist care in an accessible and friendly unit, equipped to the highest standard.We believe we are uniquely placed to provide services safely in a way that is popular with patients and gives value for money, both to the Health Service and the independent sector. A team of highly experienced nurses and visiting NHS consultant specialists staffs our unit. It is purpose built with a modern, fully equipped day case operating theatre, recovery ward and outpatient suite. Procedures available It is no longer necessary to go into hospital for many operations. Provided you meet strict criteria, many procedures can now be done more quickly, safely and with less discomfort using modern surgical and anaesthetic techniques as a day case. At The Epsom Day Surgery Unit we use modern techniques including minimally invasive surgery, which allow patients home same day with a rapid return to normal life. Day surgery within the unit is available to NHS patients living in East Elmbridge & Mid Surrey. Many of the operations carried out here have less than a four month waiting list making this a very attractive option. There are regular operating lists in most specialties including:
Local and general anaesthetics are available as appropriate. Care & Experience All our staff have undergone specialist training and are regularly inspected by the local Health Authority. The Unit provides surgery for both private and NHS patients alike. Currently we are performing up to 2000 surgical procedures per year. We constantly monitor our patients' satisfaction and are very proud of the consistently high results - 94% of our patients stated they were extremely satisfied.
