One of our past Chairmen sums up the work of the College Ward RA

"It always amazes me when I look back each year quite how much the Association has been involved in.

We place a lot of importance on working with other community groups, such as the Police Consultative Group and the Sector Working Party which means we are able to forward your concerns and receive feedback from our local police. The Neighbourhood Watch Officer has been very helpful.

We strongly believe in fostering community spirit, so we helped set up the Friends of Alexandra Park, which has become a strong group open to all who use the Park. there are some problems with the park being used for unsuitable purposes.

We work closely with the Tree Advisory Board and the Floral Improvement Group both of which do so much to enhance Epsom.

We belong to the Standing Committee of Residents Associations(SCORA) which enables us to work with other RAs on borough-wide issues, or on particular problems (such as the Chalk Pit in College Road which cross ward boundaries.

We also work with voluntary groups to help publicise their services. We have been approached by Epsom Care, a group set up by the Epsom churches, to provide voluntary aid to those who need the sort of help a friend or neighbour might give. This includes shopping, collecting prescriptions, providing transport or sitting-in.

A most important part of our work is helping residents.

I hope that this gives some idea of the effort and hard work which your College Ward committee and councillors put in on your behalf.
